Running clubs have become more and more popular over the last few years. As we all become more health conscious and see various groups starting up across social media, it becomes easier to throw yourself into something brand new and potentially scary when you know that there will be others of your level there to support you through it.
A big selling point of a lot of these running clubs is the social aspect. Often times the run will almost seem secondary to the actual event of hanging out at a coffee shop or bar after your run to socialise and meet new people. At Hog Roast Rusper we are right behind this idea. It’s a great way of getting people to come out and be healthy while having fun, too!
With so many running clubs around, you’ll likely find that many look for new ways to stand out and attract new members to the group. That usually comes in the places they choose to meet up and socialise at, or what they socialise over. It may be a coffee, a drink, or as was the case this week for one local group, a hog roast roll from Hog Roast Rusper!
Running is hungry work, after all! After putting down the miles you have to refuel immediately with some good foods. A hog roast is just that, especially during these colder months when you also need something to keep you warm and comfortable after your run. So, one local running club had the excellent idea of bringing Hog Roast Rusper’s catering out to last week’s meetup.
The group sets off together and then runs at least 5K to somewhere where they can then stop and chat together. That is where our Hog Roast Rusper chefs made sure to set up our “finishing line” kitchen. Cross the line after your 5k, and you get a fresh and hot hog roast roll passed to you right away along with a cold or hot drink of your choice. It was a chilly night, so those hog roast rolls certainly went appreciated! In fact, with how hungrily our hog roast was scoffed down, we expect that if we do this again with the group we may just see some new PBs set down in a race to be first in line for our foods!
