Aside from the great foods that come with the season, Christmas is one of the best times of year because it is the one period of the year that we get to enjoy all of the incredible Christmas tunes for a month straight. Between the Mariah Carey’s, the Shane MacGowan’s, the Bublé’s, Wizzard’s, and Wham’s, everyone has a Christmas fave that they’ll never get sick of.
At Hog Roast Fernhurst we’ve had the Christmas songs on the offices and warehouses for a quite a while as we’ve had our Christmas prep as far back as early November, but listening over the radio and phone speakers pales in comparison to getting a live performance from some proper Christmas carollers.
That is what our Hog Roast Fernhurst team found this week as our catering chefs were invited out to provide dining for a live carol performance from a local choir group. This choir group meet each weekend to practice a range of songs all year round, often heading out to big theatres to perform, or heading out into the street for impromptu performances for passers-by. At Christmas they then become a carolling group, taking their expertise out to retirement homes, schools, and Christmas events to spread plenty of Christmas cheer through the power of song.
This week they were putting on a live performance for a local social club, so Hog Roast Fernhurst were invited along to bring even more Christmas cheer with our special festive catering. Dinner and a show – what better a way to spend your Christmas than that!
With both the carollers and the members of the social club needing serving, our chefs thought it best to take out a turkey and a hog to have enough for all and to offer two options for roll fillings. Before the carollers arrived our team already had our hog roast and our slow roasted turkey set up so that both would be finished roasting by the time the carollers were finished with their performances. They put on an excellent show meaning our Hog Roast Fernhurst team had to step up to the plate and deliver just as well. Thankfully, our fresh pulled pork and turkey rolls with apple and cranberry sauce were more than up to the task!
