Even though the point of the typical Sunday roast dinner is that it is supposed to be the easy, lazy dinner, the time required in a roast can make it seem quite daunting. Thankfully your local neighbours here at Hog Roast Crawley are here to help. Here at Hog Roast Crawley we specialise in providing exciting roast dining experiences to guests at events all year round, so for this time of year we can certainly help you along with some tips for your own roasts at home.
The secret to any great roast is a bit of prep. Thereafter it is all just time, time, time, with a couple of check ups to make sure everything is going as it should. For us prep means ensuring you have the right meats for the job. At Hog Roast Crawley we only work with premium grade meats from top local farms and vendors as that way we can get the very best out of our roasts. A roast is only ever as good as the meat it starts with, after all. While it might not be feasible or affordable for you to go to local farms, your local butcher’s recommendations should more than suffice.
Once you have your meat give it a good bit of seasoning. These flavours will intensify throughout the cooking process, especially the longer you slow roast for, Even just a bit of salt and pepper is a good start if you are unsure what to season with. Then, set your roast with a little bit of water for moisture and you’re good to relax for a few hours. Check up on it every now to make sure it isn’t drying out.
Of course, it could be even easier with one of our spit roasting machines too, as then it won’t ever possibly go dry. Plus, aside from tasting great it also looks impressive too. With some of our machines you’ll be able to present the roast as it is cooking, giving you something extra to impress dinner guests with before you’ve even taken to the dining table.
With this you should be nearly ready to roast like the best of them – i.e. us!
